King Township Tourism Awards:

 

The 1st Annual King Township Tourism Awards is a reader’s choice award.  Tourists/Day-Trippers and residents are invited to nominate businesses, which in their mind have gone above and beyond in terms of street presence and service to promote tourism.

 

King Township Photography Contest:

 

The 1st Annual King Township Photography is a reader’s choice contest.  All residents of all ages are welcome to enter 3 of their best photographs.

Home Page:

 

The home page of King Township – Yours to Explore focuses on King Township through the eyes of a tourist/day-tripper and promotes local activities, events and businesses, with a direct or indirect connection to the Tourism industry. On the left side of the page, local businesses are featured within these categories.

 

  • Conference and Banquet Facilities - (incl. party places)
  • Dining Out - (incl. fine dining, family dining and on the go)
  • Equestrian - (incl. equine farms, resources and fun stuff)
  • Golf Courses - (incl. the courses, resources and fun stuff)
  • Horticulture - includes Communities in Bloom and Township Horticulture Groups
  • Local Shopping - is broken down by Community Areas

 

  • On the left side are Places to Discover, and things to do in and around the township 

The website, aside from promoting tourism and local businesses, also provides the tourist/day-tripper with useful information to plan their visit, such as: King Weather, King Events Calendar, a Photo Gallery by Community, as well as mapping capabilities.  There are fun extras like; free e-Card with township images and a music option, Daily Cartoons to send to friends, a ‘Tell a Friend’ feature and a Guest Book.

Community Website:

 

This stand-alone website is broken down by community; King City and Area; Nobleton and Area; and Schomberg and Area.  This site offers resident’s access to local Businesses and Services in their community; Job Hunting Resources, Community Groups, Volunteer Opportunities, Election Information, Local Politics, as well as township run programs and directories.   It also offers residents free e-Cards, Daily Cartoons, Community Weather, Events Calendar, Guest Book and Photo Gallery of King.

 

The ‘events calendar’ has been set up to allow groups and organizations the flexibility of adding their upcoming event(s) to the calendar themselves.

Kids and Family, Teens Stand-Alone Websites

 

Kids and Family Website:

 

This stand-alone website is broken down by:

  • Fun Stuff (for Kids)
  • Family Fun
  • Health and Help

Homework Help covers areas of study from Kindergarten to Grade 6 and features safe links to: Math, Science, Writing, Canadian Studies and Politics, Native Studies, Medieval; Egyptian, Roman and Greek times, as well as volcanoes and more.

 

Fun Stuff has safe, age-appropriate links for children from pre-school to Grade 3-4.  It features coloring and games for pre-school; games for the lower grades, and games for kids up to Grade 5-6.

 

Family Fun offers links to regional resources for movies, theatre and local places, events and activities, as well as links to camp grounds, skiing etc.

 

Health and Help offers links to invaluable regional resources for children, families and the elderly, with a list of Medical Centres and Hospitals. It also provides links to information on asthma, allergies as well as safe links to chat rooms for the parents to ask questions and connect with other parents regarding the health of their children.  There are also lists for Crisis and Help resources.

 

 

Teens Website:

 

The teen’s website is broken down in much the same way as the Kids and Family website with the focus towards children in high school.

Health offers links to medical websites that are skewed towards teenagers.

 

Help offers links to health and safety, crises and help resources.

 

Fun Stuff is broken down by: Music, Movies and Magazines with useful resources should the individual want to pursue a career in any of these areas, with links to regional movie listings, music sites and more.

 

Sports page provides links to hockey, football, baseball, soccer and more.  There are fun links to virtual games, as well as resource links to associations and federations.

 

Worship, Election 2006 and Local Polictics

 

King Worship:

 

Provides regional listings of churches and religious groups by community, with address and phone number.  There is a dedicated area for activities, and all faith groups are welcome to email us their upcoming events.

 

Election 2006 King:

 

This website will endeavor to present the candidates, the goals and the issues in an unbiased and apolitical manner.

 

Local Politics:

 

Again, this website will endeavor to present the latest township news and issues in an unbiased and apolitical manner.  The goal is to offer a forum to the community where both sides of any issue are welcome.
